About the Nelson Family Farm
Crystal Lake Alpacas is a high quality small alpaca farm that provides excellent personal care and services. Our goal is to raise healthy alpacas with the finest and densest fleece possible. Our 150 acre alpaca farm includes two separate barns for our males and females. We welcome you to visit our farm in beautiful Northwest Lower Michigan anytime. Our services include breeding, sales and boarding.
In 1991, we built The Platte Lake Veterinary Clinic in Honor, MI where David is a veterinarian. We make every attempt to be current on the latest information on alpaca medical and nutritional care. On staff, we have an associate veterinarian who specializes in and is experienced in camelid medicine. We believe we provide our and our clients' alpacas with the best service available.
Our alpacas have a very impressive heritage which includes; Snowmass Legacy Gold, Peruvian Dakotia, PPeruvian Caligula, Dom Lucilio, My Peruvian Rolex, Peruvian Bueno, PPeruvian Emilio, Snowmass Invincible, PPPeruvian Jericho, Hobby Horse CPeruvian Winchester, Snowmass Peruvian Cassanova, El Nino's Michelangelo, Hobby Horse Black Epic and 6 Peruvian Accoyo Titan, just to name a few. We strive to diversify our breeding genetic line and continue to breed to produce the best quality alpacas possible.
Heritage of the Alpacas
We have alpacas with very impressive heritage. Some of our bloodlines include Snowmass Peruvian Casanova, Hobby Horse Black Epic, Arctic's Sir Maximillian, El Nino's Accoyo Michelangelo, Hobby Horse CPeruvian Winchester, Benchmark Peruvian Bam Bam, Hobby Horse Great Expectations, Dickens", JSFI Dakota, Peruvian Black Magic and La Buena Vida's Sand Devil.
Currently, we have two standing studs at our farm: "Great Expectations, Dickens", a true black male (co-owned with Hobby Horse Farm), and "Avalon's Impresarion" (co-owned with Avalon Farm Alpacas), a white male. Both alpacas are multiple color champions with impressive fleece and conformation. We also have junior herdsire color champions, "Crystal de Diego" and "Crystal Shiloh", who will be ready to breed in the future. Our foundation females are also multiple blue ribbon winners who are producing exquisite offspring that are winning blue ribbons, reserve championships and color championships in the show ring. We look forward to our future crias continuing a winning tradition.
